The Bespoke Process

Everything we make starts as a conversation and ends as a garment cut for one person. Here is exactly how that works, start to finish.

1. Tell us what you need

Message us on WhatsApp or walk into the atelier. Tell us the function, the date, and roughly what you have in mind. If you have saved images, send them — a photograph is worth an hour of description.

2. Browse, or bring your own design

You can choose from the pieces in this catalogue and have any of them cut to your measurements, or you can hand us a reference photograph or a sketch and we will build it from nothing.

3. Fabric and quotation

We put the actual cloth in your hands before anything is cut. Once the fabric, the embroidery and the finishing are settled, you get a written quotation. The price does not move after this point unless you change the brief.

4. Measurements

Eighteen measurements, taken either at the atelier or at your home anywhere in Mumbai. If you are outside Mumbai, we will send you a guided form and a short video, and one of our tailors will walk you through it on a video call.

5. Cutting and first fitting

Your pattern is drafted individually — we do not grade up from a block. The first fitting happens on a partly constructed garment, which is the point at which real corrections are still cheap.

6. Embroidery

Hand work is done after the fit is confirmed, never before. Karigars work on the cut panels so the motif sits correctly on your body rather than on a rectangle of cloth.

7. Final fitting

The last adjustments. Bring the shoes you intend to wear — trouser and churidar length cannot be set correctly without them.

8. Delivery

Collected from the atelier, or couriered to you with tracking. We deliver at least a week before your function, never the night before.

9. Afterwards

Your measurements stay on file. The next thing you order does not need any of this.

Typical lead times: 3–4 weeks for a bandhgala or Indo-western, 4–5 for a tuxedo, 5–7 for a heavily embroidered sherwani. If your date is sooner than that, ask us anyway — we can sometimes rearrange the floor.

Still have a question?

Message us and you will get a person, not a queue. Send a photograph of what you have in mind and we will tell you honestly what is possible and what it costs.
